Inside Royal Mansour: Morocco's Most Extraordinary Hotel Collection
Morocco has always been a destination that rewards those who travel with intention. From the labyrinthine souks of Marrakech to the wild Mediterranean coastline of the north, it is a country of extraordinary contrasts, ancient and modern, spiritual and sensory, dramatic and deeply serene.
And at the very pinnacle of luxury travel in Morocco sits one name that stands apart from everything else: Royal Mansour.
Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to be invited to an exclusive showcase lunch hosted by the Royal Mansour collection at Spring London, Skye Gyngell's beautiful restaurant nestled within Somerset House. As one of Royal Mansour's trusted travel partners, it was a lunch that reminded me why this collection is truly in a league of its ownand why Morocco continues to be one of the most exciting luxury destinations I recommend to my clients.

Jamaa el Fnaa, Marrakech
What is the Royal Mansour Collection?
The Royal Mansour collection currently comprises three extraordinarily distinct hotels, each one rooted in its location and reflective of Morocco's remarkable diversity:
Royal Mansour Marrakech — the original palace hotel, set within the ancient pink city
Royal Mansour Casablanca — a refined urban retreat in Morocco's cosmopolitan capital
Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay — a coastal wellness sanctuary on Morocco's Mediterranean shore
And the collection is only growing. One of the most exciting additions on the horizon is a Royal Mansour desert camp, a prospect that, for those of us who love Morocco deeply, is enormously exciting. The Sahara has always been one of the country's most profound experiences, and the idea of the Royal Mansour collection bringing its uncompromising approach to craft, comfort and personalised service into the desert landscape is something I am watching with great anticipation. It is the kind of addition that could quite simply be unlike anything else available in Morocco.
Together, the collection offers something that very few hotel brands in the world can: the opportunity to experience an entire country, from imperial city to Atlantic coast to Mediterranean shore, and soon the Sahara itself, through the lens of one seamlessly curated brand. And as I'll explain later, combining two or more properties into a single itinerary makes for one of the most compelling multi-centre journeys available anywhere.
Royal Mansour Marrakech
The Hotel
Royal Mansour Marrakech is, quite simply, one of the most extraordinary hotels in the world. Commissioned by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and brought to life by the finest Moroccan master craftsmen, known as maalems, every detail of this palatial retreat has been executed by hand. From the intricate zellij tilework to the hand-carved plasterwork ceilings, it is as much a living monument to Moroccan artisanship as it is a luxury hotel.
The hotel is composed of 53 private riads, each one a three-storey residence with its own plunge pool, rooftop terrace and personal butler. You are not simply checking in to a room, you are stepping into your own private home within a walled medina.
The spa is legendary. One of the largest in Africa, it offers a full hammam ritual, beauty treatments and wellness therapies drawn from centuries of Moroccan tradition. It is the kind of place where you genuinely lose track of time.
Why Stay Here
Unrivalled privacy and space, 53 private riads, each with its own plunge pool
World-class dining across multiple restaurants
One of the most celebrated spas in Morocco
An intimate window into Moroccan heritage, craft and culture
Dining at Royal Mansour Marrakech
The dining experience here is exceptional. La Grande Table Marocaine celebrates the full depth of Moroccan cuisine in a setting of breathtaking beauty, while La Grande Table Française, overseen by three-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, brings the finest French gastronomy to the heart of the medina. Le Jardin offers a more relaxed, garden-side setting for long lunches beneath fragrant orange trees.
What to Do in Marrakech
Marrakech is endlessly captivating, and there is no shortage of extraordinary experiences beyond the hotel gates.
Explore the Medina: Lose yourself in the souks, where spices, leather, ceramics and lanterns spill out of every doorway. A guided tour is well worth it both for the stories and to discover the quieter artisan quarters away from the tourist trails
Jardin Majorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum: One of the city's most beautiful gardens, acquired and restored by YSL, and now home to a stunning museum dedicated to his life and work
A hot air balloon over the Atlas Mountains: A truly unforgettable sunrise experience, drifting above a patchwork of ochre plains and ancient villages
A day trip into the Atlas Mountains: Visit Berber villages in the foothills, have lunch by a mountain stream and get a very different perspective on Morocco
A traditional cooking class: A wonderful way to connect with Moroccan food culture. Markets in the morning, cooking and eating in the afternoon
Where Else to Eat in Marrakech
Nomad: A rooftop restaurant in the medina with modern Moroccan food and excellent views over the rooftops
Dar Yacout: A classic Marrakech dining experience, set within a stunning traditional riad with candlelit courtyards
Le Jardin (restaurant): A beautiful garden riad restaurant. Perfect for a long, leisurely lunch

Royal Mansour Casablanca
The Hotel
Royal Mansour Casablanca brings the collection's hallmark elegance into Morocco's most dynamic and cosmopolitan city. Where Marrakech is steeped in imperial history and craft tradition, Casablanca is forward-facing and urban — a city of wide boulevards, art deco architecture and a thriving contemporary energy.
The hotel reflects this beautifully: deeply luxurious and impeccably designed, yet with a contemporary confidence that feels entirely at home in one of Africa's great cities. It is the ideal base from which to experience Casablanca properly, a city that, in my experience, is frequently underestimated by travellers who see it only as a gateway.
Why Stay Here
A sophisticated urban retreat in Morocco's most vibrant and forward-looking city
The perfect arrival or departure point, given Casablanca's excellent international connections
The same commitment to craft, detail and personalised service as its sister properties
An ideal opening to any Morocco itinerary
What to Do in Casablanca
Casablanca is far more than a transit hub, and those who take the time to explore it properly are always pleasantly surprised.
The Hassan II Mosque: One of the largest mosques in the world, and the only one in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors. Set dramatically on a headland above the Atlantic Ocean, it is a genuinely awe-inspiring piece of architecture
The Corniche: A beautiful stretch of Atlantic coastline with ocean-facing cafés, restaurants and a real sense of the city's relaxed, coastal character
The Art Deco Quarter: Casablanca has one of the finest collections of art deco architecture outside of Europe. A fascinating walk for those with an eye for design and history
The Habous Quarter: A quieter, more traditional district with artisan shops, wonderful patisseries and an unhurried pace entirely at odds with the main city
Contemporary Art and Culture: Casablanca has a genuinely exciting gallery and creative scene, well worth an afternoon of exploration
Where to Eat in Casablanca
Rick's Café: Yes, it takes its cue from the classic film but it is a genuinely wonderful restaurant with live piano, excellent food and a beautifully romantic atmosphere
La Sqala: Set within a restored 18th-century fortress overlooking the ocean, one of the city's most atmospheric spots for traditional Moroccan food
La Bodega: A lively, buzzy favourite with locals and ideal for a long evening of tapas-style sharing platesWhere to stay during cherry blossom season

Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay
THE HOTEL
If Marrakech is the soul of Royal Mansour and Casablanca is its sophistication, then Tamuda Bay is its sanctuary.
Situated on Morocco's northern Mediterranean coastline between the historic city of Tetouan and the Strait of Gibraltar. This is a very different Morocco from the one most people imagine. The landscape here is lush and verdant, the sea is warm and clear, and the pace of life is slow and deeply restorative.
Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay is home to Morocco's only medi-spa, a world-class wellness destination that sets this property apart not just within the collection, but within the entire country. Drawing on the latest medical and holistic approaches alongside the ancient traditions of Moroccan hammam culture, the spa here is extraordinary. For many guests, it is the primary reason they visit.
The hotel's villas and suites are designed to immerse you fully in the landscape, with private terraces looking out over gardens, pools and the shimmering blue of the Mediterranean beyond.
WHY STAY HERE
Home to the only medi-spa in Morocco — a truly exceptional wellness experience
A beautifully different side of Morocco: Mediterranean, green and deeply relaxed
Stunning sea and mountain views from private villas and suites
The ideal way to close a multi-centre itinerary and genuinely decompress
WHAT TO DO IN AND AROUND TAMUDA BAY
The northern region of Morocco is rich in culture, history and natural beauty and much of it still off the radar for most international travellers, which makes it feel all the more special.
Tetouan Medina: A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco's most beautifully preserved medinas. Far quieter than Marrakech, with a distinct Andalusian character found nowhere else in the country
Chefchaouen - the Blue City: One of Morocco's most iconic and photographed destinations, just over an hour from Tamuda Bay. The blue-washed streets of this mountain town are utterly magical, and best appreciated with an early morning visit before the day-trippers arrive
Tangier: One of the great port cities of the world, with a fascinating literary and artistic heritage, beloved by writers from Paul Bowles to Tennessee Williams, and now home to a thriving contemporary arts scene
Watersports on the Mediterranean: Kayaking, paddleboarding and sailing are all easily arranged, and the calm, clear Mediterranean waters are ideal for those who prefer gentler sea conditions
The Rif Mountains: The dramatic range that forms the backdrop to this part of Morocco offers wonderful hiking and spectacular scenery for those who want to venture inland
WHERE TO EAT NEAR TAMUDA BAY
Coccinella, Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay: The hotel's own signature restaurant. A beautiful setting in which to experience the very best of Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine without leaving the property, delivered with the Royal Mansour's characteristic attention to detail
La Méditerranée by Robuchon: A landmark restaurant bearing the legacy of the legendary Joël Robuchon, offering a refined and elegant dining experience that reflects the finest French Mediterranean tradition in a stunning coastal setting
Baie Blanche Brasserie, St Régis: A sophisticated brasserie with a relaxed, sun-drenched atmosphere, perfect for long lunches by the water, with a menu that celebrates the best of the Mediterranean coastline

The Multi-Centre Itinerary: Experiencing the Full Breadth of Morocco
One of the things I love most about the Royal Mansour collection is the way it lends itself so naturally to a multi-centre journey, allowing you to experience the full breadth of Morocco through a single, consistent standard of luxury and personalised care.
An itinerary I particularly love is structured as follows:
Casablanca (2–3 nights) → Marrakech (4–5 nights) → Tamuda Bay (3–4 nights)
Arriving into Casablanca gives you an international gateway that is well worth pausing in, Hassan II Mosque, the art deco architecture and a wonderful evening at Rick's Café set the tone beautifully. From there, you travel south to Marrakech for the imperial heart of Morocco: the souks, the medina, extraordinary food, long days at the spa and the magic of the pink city at dusk.
And then, when you have absorbed all of that colour and energy, you close the journey at Tamuda Bay, exchanging the heat and intensity of Marrakech for cool Mediterranean breezes, the wellness rituals of Morocco's finest medi-spa, and the quiet beauty of a part of the country that most visitors never reach.
Three very different Moroccos, each one extraordinary in its own right and each one elevated to another level entirely by the Royal Mansour experience.

When to Visit Morocco and Why It Matters
Morocco is a year-round destination, but the experience varies enormously depending on when you go. Understanding the climate and the extraordinary cultural calendar running alongside it can transform a good trip into a genuinely exceptional one.
Marrakech
Spring (March–May) is widely considered the finest time to visit. Temperatures are warm without being oppressive, typically 20–26°C, the rose valleys around the city are in bloom, and the light is extraordinary. Autumn (September–November) is equally lovely, with similar temperatures and a more relaxed atmosphere after the summer peak.
Midsummer in Marrakech (July–August) can be extremely hot, often exceeding 38°C, and is best avoided unless you plan to spend most of your time in the hotel.
Key events in Marrakech:
Marrakech International Film Festival, 20–28 November 2026 - one of the most glamorous cultural events in the Arab world, drawing international filmmakers, actors and cinema lovers to the city. Red carpet screenings take place across iconic Marrakech venues. The 2027 edition is expected in late November/early December. For those who love both film and travel, this is a truly special week to be in the city
National Festival of Popular Arts, Marrakech (typically July) — one of Morocco's most spectacular and authentic cultural events, held in the dramatic setting of the El Badi Palace. Folk musicians, storytellers, acrobats and performers from across the country gather in the ruins of this 16th-century palace for an extraordinary celebration of Moroccan heritage. It is the kind of experience that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world
Casablanca
Casablanca enjoys a milder Atlantic climate year-round, making it genuinely pleasant at almost any time. Spring and autumn are ideal, with temperatures in the comfortable range of 18–24°C. Summers are warm but tempered by sea breezes, rarely reaching the extremes of the interior.
Key events near Casablanca:
Mawazine World Rhythms Festival, Rabat (typically May–June) - one of Africa's largest music festivals, just a short drive from Casablanca, with performances from major international artists across multiple open-air stages. An extraordinary spectacle
Tamuda Bay
The northern Mediterranean coast has a wonderfully temperate climate with mild winters, warm springs and beautiful early autumn conditions. Late spring (May–June) and early autumn (September–October) are the sweet spots, with sea temperatures that are genuinely inviting and air temperatures around 22–27°C. Midsummer is warm but rarely as intense as the south.
Key events near Tamuda Bay:
Tanjazz Festival, Tangier, 18–20 September 2026 - a beautifully intimate jazz festival held across iconic venues in Tangier, just along the coast. Since 2000, it has drawn international jazz legends and African artists to one of the world's most atmospheric port cities. It is a wonderful reason to time a Tamuda Bay stay for September
Gnaoua and World Music Festival, Essaouira (late June) - slightly further afield but well worth the journey: a world-class spiritual music festival in the beautiful blue-and-white coastal town of Essaouira, where Gnaoua masters perform alongside international jazz and blues artists
As a general rule, I advise most clients to avoid Ramadan for a first visit, as restaurant access, opening hours and the general pace of the city change significantly during this period. That said, for travellers who have already experienced Morocco and want to see a different and deeply moving side of the country, Ramadan can be an extraordinarily special time to visit.
If you'd like to time your Royal Mansour itinerary around any of these events, get in touch with Me and I'll help you plan around the best dates.
The Difference Between Booking a Luxury Hotel and Booking It Well
There is a difference between booking a luxury hotel and booking it well and that difference, more often than not, comes down to the relationships behind the reservation.
As a Virtuoso-affiliated luxury travel advisor and a trusted partner of the Royal Mansour collection, I work directly with the people at these hotels not just the reservations system. I know the teams on the ground. I have sat at their table, shared their food, heard their stories about what makes each property exceptional. Those are not the kinds of connections you can replicate by booking online, and they are not the kinds of connections that show up in a confirmation email.
What that means in practice for my clients is this: room upgrades where they're available, early check-ins and late check-outs where possible, thoughtful little touches on arrival that reflect who you are rather than who a computer thinks you are, and someone at the hotel who already knows your name before you walk through the door. It means that if something needs sorting, I can pick up the phone and speak to a person not a form.
I believe this human element is everything in luxury travel. The finest hotels in the world are built on hospitality, and hospitality is, at its heart, a deeply personal thing. When you book through me, you're not just accessing preferred partner benefits you're gaining a genuine advocate who cares as much about the quality of your experience as you do.
To plan your Royal Mansour Morocco journey with the benefit of those personal connections, get in touch with me today.
